Hello World!
So, in the tradition of computer programming culture, I titled my first instance of output "Hello World!" Cliche, I know, but work with me people. Anyway, this blog is not about computer programming, it's about hypothetical crossovers of various media franchises. Today the medium in question the comic book. The franchises are two comic greats: Marvel's Thor, and DC's Green Lantern. As many of you know, Marvel's character Thor was inspired by the thunder god of Norse mythology. In certain iterations of the Marvel Thor mythos, Thor is merely a human being who derives power from his magically endowed hammer Mjolnir, a gift from the god-like Asgardians. Members of DC's Green Lantern Corps derive their power in a similar manner from a magical green ring given to them by a race of cosmic protectors known as the Qwaardians. Now, Marvel and DC have been known to cooperate by combining franchises in the past. I think that these franchises are ripe for combination. How about a race of god-like protectors, the Asqwaardians, in a last attempt to save Earth from an impending threat, fashion a hammer of magical emerald, and bestow it upon a worthy agent of their will. Sure, The Green Hammer sounds like a dumb name for a super hero, but Superman worked, and that's about as corny and unimaginative as super hero names come. I doubt Marvel or DC will ever develop this, let alone see it, but a nerd can dream, can't he?
